She looked up and saw that it was an opening in the roof of the cave! If Aquata wanted to get up there she would need a way to get up to it. But then, she saw something, a glimmer of light on the beast’s scales. She knew she didn't stand a chance against the creature with poisonous venom. It was a monstrous lizard only found in Dayshaun, a Gila Monster. The creature that attacked her was behind her, as it was huge, green, and scaly. The scrape on her side stung because of this movement, but she did not let her guard down. Aquata’s muscles automatically tensed out of instinct as she cautiously turned to face whoever was coming. She felt the fur on her back stand up as she sniffed the salty air, knowing her nose would tell her more than her eyes. She had sincerely doubted that, but she still did it anyway. They had convinced her that collecting fish for her pack would help her fit in better, and they also said that if she proved her usefulness, the others would accept her. Three wolves had left on a hunting party, but they had not yet returned. Something didn’t seem right, even the smell of the salty ocean air didn't smell right. The sound of sand crunching under paws could be heard as Aquata nervously paced around the cave on the edge of the beach.
